Celtic vs Kilmarnock Preview

Celtic will be looking to make it to progress in todays league cup semi final for the 2nd time to 2 consecutive years in a 5:30 kick-off which will see them face familiar opponents Kilmarnock who they previously faced a week prior in a 2-0 win at Celtic park. Ahead of the game there was press conferences heard by the manager Ange Postecoglou on the game and heres some important points from that interview:

Ange is looking for more League Cup success.

Injury news: "The guys who are coming back from injuries all trained today except for Greg Taylor. They are all back on the deck which is good - Sead Haksabanovic, Tony Ralston, James McCarthy, Stephen Welsh - they have only had one training session, to be fair, so there will be no real change from last week".

Preparations for the game: "It is not a league game and you kind of know that cup games, particularly with semi-finals that there is a little bit of tension there and an edge to those games. Last year we played St Johnstone in the semi-final and it was a tight affair and we had to work hard to get the victory. I'm sure tomorrow is going to be the same".

Transfer News: "I'm not sure who is linking us. So I don’t really know. I’m not across it all the time I am kept abreast of it. I reckon around 10 per cent of what is out there at the moment is anywhere close to the truth".

Another man who gave his points across was Celtic captain who gave his thoughts ahead of the game and when asked on the aspects of Celtic going for the treble, heres what he had to say: "I was waiting on that one. You’ve probably heard me saying it enough times now, we focus on the next game, and the next game is the biggest, and that’s Saturday.”

“I’ve touched on it there, I think it (last season’s Premier Sports Cup success) was vital for the group. It just sort of keeps you going on the right track and lets everybody know that you are doing some good things at the training ground.

“So it’s a similar mindset this year; obviously, we have full preparation on the game at the weekend. If we progress to the final, then we’ll look at that when it comes. “But it’s always important to win.”

Looking ahead to this one Celtic have only lost 1 in 23 domestic game his season and that lost coming to a 2-0 to St Mirren in mid September. They will be looking to continue this dominance going forawrd into the league cup semi final on Saturday. After their 2-0 win over Kilmarnock also last weekend confidence will be high for this Celtic side. Especially with the amount of success this side has had as they having won the last 5 league cups out of last 6 years the cup has been played. The only team to win the cup in the last 6 years that wasn't Celtic was St Johnstone in their cup double winning year in 2020-21 season.
